Chapter 8 “patarapoza” Summary

[Chapter 1: The Call of Darkness]
The prosperous Fyuzarion. Meanwhile, the ailing Bard is tormented by a voice calling out to him. The awakening of the God of Darkness Patarapoza is near. Knowing this, Bard resolves to set out on a journey once again to regain the physical and mental strength to confront the God of Darkness.

[Chapter 2: The Imposter]
Traveling with Karz and Seto, Bard keenly feels the decline of his body. But in Kokochi of the Yadobalgi Grand Duchy, they encounter an imposter claiming to be Bard Rowen. Just then, the duke is murdered, and the imposter Bard is suspected. At the public trial, Bard’s group uses the imposter’s companion to expose the duke’s deputy’s conspiracy.

[Chapter 3: Elopement]
Bard’s group seeks lodging for the night at the manor of Lord Kurt Andares. Watching Seto spar with the manor’s soldiers, Bard is impressed by his growth. Bard stumbles upon Shayma, one of Andares’ retainers, eloping with the lord’s wife. Bard unexpectedly offers to be the knight protecting their love.

[Chapter 4: Middle Zarkos]
Visiting the Mageia territory, Bard’s group learns that Godon Zarkos has passed away, and Kainen and Eureka have also left this world. Concerned about the precariousness of Middle, who has succeeded the lordship, Bard persistently admonishes him.

[Chapter 5: Godon’s Love]
Visiting the Linz territory, Bard’s group spends an enjoyable evening with former lord Simon Epibares. At the banquet, Bard hears the tale of Godon Zarkos’ youthful romance. Godon, who was training as a knight under Simon, was in love with Trisha, Simon’s foster daughter, and they were supposed to marry.

[Chapter 6: The Queen’s Struggle]
Bard is shocked to learn that Julelan has passed away last year. Regaining his resolve, Bard listens to Simon’s account of the recent events in Parzam. After Julelan’s death, Princess Shernelia has been struggling, and Chantillion has become the regent, with Prince Baldrant set to succeed as the next king.

[Chapter 7: Etna]
Bard has crossed the Ova, but his heart is undecided about whether to visit the capital. In the city of Mithra, he is given a sandwich by a woman, and the deliciousness of it makes him realize that the prosperous life of the people is the result of Julelan’s dedication. With this, Bard finally resolves to confront Patarapoza.

[Chapter 8: The Captive Island]
When Bard removed Yana’s bracelet, the Dragonoid Chichiruarchichi immediately came to fetch him. Taken to the Dragonoid island, Bard finally faced the King of Evil Spirit, the God of Darkness Patarapoza. The Captive Island itself was the true form of the King of Evil Spirit.

[Chapter 9: Choice]
The King of Evil Spirit, connected to Bard’s heart, revealed that his only wish was to obtain the star ship and return to his homeland to take revenge. He tempted Bard, offering to grant him a thousand-year lifespan, youth, and health in exchange for handing over the weapons, landing ships, and control of the labyrinth, as well as absorbing the spirit beasts. Bard refused, and the captain decided to kill him.

[Chapter 10: Spirit]
In the final moment, Bard discovered the true nature of the star ship and defeated the captain. Bard, who was supposed to die, was saved by the countless spirits freed from the captain. Carried through the night sky by the spirits, Bard reflected on his love for Idora.
