Chapter 413 - The Little Meddler
“Ahh, a flower in each hand. Honestly.”
Deciding it was about time to go and bother her friend, she peeked at the second floor from the shadow of the stairs, only to see that.
The small shadow watching the scene unfold—seeing the expressions they directed toward that one person, expressions she had never seen before from the ‘Princess,’ whom she hadn’t interacted with much before, not unrelated to being called her ‘natural enemy,’ as well as from Nia, whom she’d known for a while—was at a loss for what kind of face to make.
But what was there to do? There was no choice but to cheer them on.
“Peeking.”
“It's fine, I don't have any improper intentions.”
Without being startled by her partner’s voice from behind, the unabashed girl replied, her gaze darting here and there.
“You know, it looks like a battlefield, but the fact that they all look like girls is pretty funny.”
She said it casually, but her attention was on the two partners. Namely, the one involved in the battlefield and the one who wasn't… and if she had to choose, her focus was leaning more toward the latter.
Does she need some support?
She considered her usual meddling, but couldn’t come up with an answer. That was because that pair was too skillful at suppressing their true feelings.
More accurately, it wasn’t that they were skilled, but that they were completely used to it.
Furthermore, they seemed to hold multiple true feelings that were contradictory yet existed without contradiction.
There’s a certain position from which you can lend a hand precisely because you keep a distance, not getting too close. But to get involved with those two, you would probably need to step in deep.
Therefore, this was likely not her time to act.
“Man, this is a pain… I feel like he should just take responsibility for all of them.”
“...All of them?”
“Yep. Just use power to shut society up.”
Whether that was actually possible was another matter. But for the young lady of the ‘White’ family, the aforementioned ‘Princess,’ it wouldn't be surprising if she possessed that much power.
“That's a bit… immoral.”
“You think so? If it makes them happy, I don't think it's any of the outsiders' business—well, that was mostly a joke, anyway.”
It was obviously a joke. Her gaze met a pair of quiet garnet eyes that weren’t blaming her, and she took that as her cue to duck her head back.
Her friend, who was vigorously shaking her crush, seemed like she would be busy for a while. It would be a bad time to interrupt, so she decided to postpone her plans.
—And so.
“Hey, I’m back~!!!”
“Wahyau!?”
With the momentum from running down the stairs, she pounced on the golden-haired girl who had been pretending not to notice all this time. For now, if there was nothing she could do…
“Alrighty then, Sora-chan, time for you to come with me!”
“C-Come with you… f-for what!? H-hey, where are you—!”
…she could at least help distract her by providing some entertainment.
“So, any songs you know or like? Don't worry if you don't remember the lyrics, we can just wing it with passion!”
“What do you mean ‘so’— ah, hey, no, I don't want to…! I can't do that, I can't, I'm sorry, I really can't!!!”
As she dragged the fiercely resisting Sora toward the ‘stage’ where a bunch of guys were already belting out songs, she glanced up.
Just as she expected, she made eye contact with a certain someone who had looked over upon hearing his partner’s screams. The little meddler stuck out her tongue and sent him a silent message: Hurry up and come save her, you idiot.
