Chapter 53 - Interlude

"…………………………Something's…"

I feel like I'm forgetting something.

Some time after parting with a new client she hadn't seen in a while, Kagura returned to her faction's home, the peaceful Western Nation of Vestol. Inside a corner of the workshop provided by her clan, she suddenly felt a nagging thought and stopped her work.

With the magi-tech artisan's concentration broken, the work process fell apart, and a pile of materials that should have become some kind of creation vanished with a fumble—but, true to her word that she "wasn't hurting for money," she paid it no mind.

It would have been a different story if it were the irreplaceable rare materials that new client had brought, but right now, what she was forgetting was more important.

Now, what was it she had failed to tell him—Haru?

"Hmm… oh well. I'll just tell him when I remember."

Either way, he was probably tackling the game at his usual absurd pace today. It would be a waste to interrupt the progress of such a promising rookie with a pointless message—

"…………Conquest."

He had recently cleared that infamous [Great Flowing Sand Cavern] with his meme-filled strategy.

Kagura was a member of Vestol, so she wasn't an expert on Istia's affairs… but even she knew about the secret branch routes in each faction's beginner areas, which are triggered by a large-scale battle

"Ah."

Crap.

I forgot to tell him.

Realizing her mistake, Kagura let out a small voice.

"…Oh well, whatever."

She tossed out the same words she had muttered just a moment ago, this time with a hint of resignation.

"If he somehow sends a clear report by mistake, I'll give him a congratulatory gift or something."

In terms of his skewed stats alone, he could hold his own against max-level players. Maybe he just might—she entertained the ridiculous, half-joking thought before dismissing it with a laugh and returning to her interrupted work.

"I mean, in what world does a rookie clear an instance recommended for a full party of max-level players?"

Even a supernova like him couldn't be that outrageous. She thought that maybe, just maybe, she might get a help message from him soon.

She recalled the boy, who, contrary to his playstyle, was surprisingly prone to whining when you met him in person. As she constructed a new schematic, Kagura's cheeks curved into an amused smile.
