Chapter 306 - Chapter 270 Update Ver 1.2.9

Friday. The usual lunchtime. Rainy season continued, day after day. During this time, food spoils quickly, which means more frequent shopping, and that's a hassle…

"Has the [Frontline Base] settled down?"

"Yeah. I haven't done much besides repairing buildings, though."

Nat said with a bright smile, while Iincho sighed heavily beside him. Good work to you, Iincho… Apparently, the supplies bought dirt cheap from the Hegemony members were equally redistributed to the people who had been there, and they were free to decide what to do next. Nat's group who came later, the production members of [Silver Manor], and for some reason, even fans of Mion and I, quickly rebuilt the [Frontline Base].

"Building repairs? Was it that bad of a situation?"

"Yeah, because the number of people had decreased."

"Ah…"

It felt like, 'My condolences.' Of course, the people who remained must have been heartbroken.

"Well, with the [Silver Manor] people, it'll be quick."

"Kashiwahara-kun's group also helped with the heavy lifting. They're quite skilled at house repairs, aren't they?"

"Hahahaha! Everyone in our guild, except for combat, is a carpenter or civil engineer!"

Apparently, most of the melee members in Nat's guild, 'Fairy's Friend,' had [Carpentry] skill, and the ranged members had [Civil Engineering] or [Woodcraft] skills… They were like a construction company.

"With so many people, a house would be built in no time, wouldn't it?"

"I feel like if we had the [Spatial Magic] Shou showed the other day, we could shorten it even more."

"Spatial Magic?"

He apparently wanted to use the part of the [Spatial Magic] I showed him. He thought that if he used that, all tasks requiring support could be done by one person.

"Ah, I see!"

"Try out various things. My guys all said they've subscribed to your channel too."

"Well, after the goddess statue is done, then."

I hadn't leveled up [Spatial Magic] since then either. After finishing the goddess statue and installing it in the church, I planned to finally go outside the church, but I had to prepare a lot of things first.

"Hm?"

Mion nudged my arm and showed me her tablet. It looked like the IRO official page, but…

"Huh? An update?"

"Ooh!?"

"Eh?"

Not just Nat, but Iincho also seemed curious and peered over. Mion repositioned the tablet so everyone could see and displayed the update content page.

"A minor update, huh?"

"As expected, no major update in the middle of a [World Quest]."

"What does that mean? Explain it."

Iincho, who wasn't familiar with games, glared at Nat with narrowed eyes. Mion wasn't that knowledgeable either, so she stared at me… which was embarrassing.

"Ah, a minor update is for bug fixes, small balance adjustments, and minor details."

"I think a major update is when you can start from the Demon Kingdom, or choose other races, things that are main features of the game. For IRO, it's rumored that the next major update will add new races and allow starting from the Demon Kingdom."

They both seemed convinced? And as for the contents of this minor update…

――――

"…Is this update for you?"

All the changes were welcome, so that was good, but streaming information piecemeal just because I could participate in the World Quest felt a bit… off. I never intended for the channel to be primarily about conquest, and I was aiming for the relaxed streaming Yata-sensei talked about.

"Well, it's a relief for us that NPCs in a party won't die."

"That's true."

Mion and I looked at each other with puzzled expressions at their words.

"Some of the Gnome children have started following us…"

""Eh?!""

Nat's guild's headquarters, having settled their development, now had NPCs, and it had apparently become a proper village. Pepper harvesting was stable, and quests to send [Black Pepper] and [White Pepper] to the Capital Wolkel had also started, so it seemed poised to become a city soon. Gnomes apparently helped with that too, but…

"Some of the young Gnomes just really insisted, you know."

"Heh, and you actually agreed?" I asked, looking at Iincho.

"I was worried, but I didn't want to outright oppose something they really wanted to do."

She gave a model student's answer. I had a feeling Iincho would be constantly watching out of worry.

"So, the Gnomes are helping too?"

"Yeah. Until yesterday, the area around the base was wild, so they helped there. Starting today, they're joining the road construction towards the [Demon Kingdom]."

"Wait for me to get there, okay?"

"Understood…"

Nat's group, 'Fairy's Friend,' was handling scouting and monster extermination, while [Silver Manor]'s production team and the Gnomes were building the road.

"Speaking of which, can you, Nat and Iincho, talk to the Gnomes?"

"Hmm, I can't really 'speak' to them, but I get the gist of what they're saying."

"That's right. They understand what we're saying. What they say, we only vaguely understand still."

Hmm, similar to me, then. I wish there was a skill that let us understand them…
