Chapter 343 - VIP Treatment
Equipment check.
Ken-nata, a [Mithril] Round Shield. A Red Armor Bear's mantle, gloves, and boots.
Various Spirit Stones and the Magic Wolf Fang Pendant.
Heal Potions and Paralyze Throwing Knives were set in the side pouch, ready for immediate use.
The Azure Moon Ring was already on, so that was fine.
The inventory held spare potions, the Jade Goddess Statue, the Ancient Kagurabue Flute, and more.
Argenta-san had confirmed the Transfer Magic Circle that paired with this one. Vermilion-san was said to have secured that tower and the surrounding area.
And in a letter, he was specifically reminded, "Don't forget them under any circumstances," about the White Dragon Coin and Silver Dragon Coin. The letter instructed him to first show the Dragonfolk guards the Dragon Coins.
Did you forget anything?
"Nope."
He went downstairs and first moved aside the mini-chest.
Then he put the stone wall into his inventory and reached for the Transfer Magic Circle…
"Good. It's movable."
That's a relief.
He then put that into his inventory as well.
I realized that if I always kept it in my inventory, there'd be no way for anyone to transfer here. It's bulky, though.
The reason he went to all that trouble was because he wanted to change where the Transfer Magic Circle was used. Specifically, he planned to install it in the Large Transfer Room and transfer from there.
By doing so, he could now use Nina's authority to stop the Transfer Elevator and prevent the worst-case scenario. It should…
"Alright then."
""…""
When he stepped outside, Leda and Roy were waiting, their eyes wide with surprise. It must be because Lupi is pure white, but…
"Woof."
As Lupi changed back to her original fur color, the dumbfounded Leda and Roy snapped to attention and sat down properly.
""Bow!""
After confirming the two were back to their serious selves, Lupi returned to her pure white fluffiness.
Yeah, it'd be startling if their master suddenly changed color.
"~~~♪"
"Sweee and the Fairies came to see me off, too."
Sweee nodded enthusiastically, arms crossed.
He received a Greenberry Fruit from each of the Fairies.
"Thanks. I'll be back in a bit, so look forward to souvenirs."
"""~~~♪"""
Despite saying that, I wonder if there's anything that would make a good souvenir. If there were some good fruit… it'd be nice if I could buy saplings and bring them back.
"Well, I'm off."
"~~~♪"
""Awoooo!""
The send-off only went as far as the stairs leading to the Ancient Ruins.
As he descended the stairs, he had to inform Nina that he'd be away for a while.
"Nina. I'm going to the mainland for a while, that's okay, right?"
"[Yes. There is no problem.]"
"I have one request: while I'm gone, can you stop the Transfer Elevator in the Large Transfer Room?"
"[Yes. It is possible, but would you like to restrict use by Fairies and Drab Wolves as well?]"
"Yeah. Safety first, so no strange people can get in through there."
"[Yes. Understood.]"
With that, even if someone came to the Large Transfer Room, they wouldn't be able to go upstairs, so it should be fine.
As he turned left at the crossroads,
Shou-kun, aren't you going to close the door?
"Yeah. So it's easier for Sweee and the others to get behind the church."
They could get to the Urisk settlement using the Divine Tree's hollow, but Leda and Roy would have trouble getting down behind the church. I really should build stairs when I get back.
"Alright."
He arrived at the Large Transfer Room.
First, he placed the stone wall that had been covering the entrance at the back of the room.
"Nina. Can you recycle this stone wall?"
"[Yes. Understood.]"
Then he returned to the Transfer Elevator and placed the Transfer Magic Circle on the opposite side of the large storage box.
"Nina. I'm going to the mainland using this, but if anyone other than us appears, please lock them in this room."
"[Yes. Understood. Would you like to fix the Transfer Magic Circle in place?]"
"Ah, um. Please."
"[Yes. Understood.]"
Sure enough, since I'm the administrator, I can ask Nina to fix the magic tools in place.
That means if I became the administrator of the Necropolis, I'd probably be able to move the Transfer Magic Circles that are surely fixed in place…
"Mion, what time is it now?"
It's almost 2 o'clock.
"Got it. It should be fine to play until just before 4, so for now, let's observe for about an hour, and then decide whether to come back or not."
Okay!
Since there should be Dragonfolk-san at the transfer destination, he held two Dragon Coins in his hand.
I hope it goes smoothly, and that I don't somehow end up surrounded by undead…
...
..
.
[Entered Safe Zone]
"Ah, right, of course." Just as he thought that,
"Who goes there!"
a stern voice rang out. And a short spear was pointed at him.
These two Dragonfolk-san must have been on guard duty. Anyway, he was relieved it wasn't undead.
He stopped Lupi, who was trying to step forward and intimidate them, and held out the White Dragon Coin and Silver Dragon Coin in his hand so they could see them.
"I'm Shou. Um, is Vermilion-san here?"
"Th-this is a grave oversight! I shall call him immediately, please wait a moment!"
Saying that, one of them darted off, and the other knelt.
I'm not used to this kind of VIP treatment…
It's good that the message got through properly.
"Yeah. Though I'd prefer if they treated me a bit more normally."
He squatted, petting Lupi, and covertly chatted with Mion while scanning their surroundings.
The door seems to be the only one leading outside. There's only one bay window on the wall, but it's tightly shut, so it's unclear which floor this is.
There was nothing else besides the Transfer Magic Circle, and it felt a bit excessive to have two guards stationed here.
Or rather,
"Excuse me. I'm feeling a bit restless, could you please stand up?"
"…Hmph!"
There was a moment of hesitation, but he was relieved when the guard stood up and clasped his hands behind his back.
Before long, hurried footsteps could be heard, and as expected, Vermilion-san appeared.
"You've come!"
"Hello. For starters, could you tell me what kind of place this is?"
"Alright! Well, we can't talk in this room, let's go outside."
Vermilion-san is just a genuinely good-natured big brother, easy to talk to.
Thinking that, he passed through the door, and on both sides, Dragonfolk-san knelt in a line…
