Chapter 436 - Guild Functions and Operations
"I found a Magic Certificate Management Device; is this a magic tool for managing player guilds?"
It was night.
In the Virtual Club Room, with me, Mion, Club President Bell, Seth, and everyone except Yata-sensei present, we talked about the magic tool found earlier that day.
"Club President Bell…"
"Ah—…"
Leaving the now-frozen Club President Bell to her own devices, I turned to Seth, who was intently watching a replayed archive Mion was showing.
"Hmm. It seems to be exactly the same as the one used at the Silver Manor, no doubt about it."
"So it is. So, if I use a blank card, I can make my own Guild Card, right?"
"No, you must first perform the initial setup. That is where you register the Guild Master."
That's what she said.
First, there's the Guild Master registration, where the guild name is also registered.
Then you add guild members, and it's possible to set some of them as Sub Masters.
"I see. So, is there any benefit to having a Guild Card?"
"Within a guild, you can also create groups for each division, and communication between these divisions becomes possible."
"Huh? Even if they're far apart?"
"Indeed."
According to Seth, it's like a guild chat.
If you talk while holding a Guild Card, it becomes a call to your division.
"At the Silver Manor, we divide them into management, combat, production, and general affairs divisions," said Club President Bell, having recovered from her frozen state.
Apparently, one person can belong to multiple divisions, but that also means more calls.
"You can temporarily mute them, but doing that every time is a hassle."
"Especially during combat, indeed."
That makes sense. It would be troublesome to be called while exploring a dungeon.
"How do guilds communicate with each other?"
"Ah, they also communicate between alliances, don't they?"
They must be coordinating with Natto's group and Master Chef's group.
"That part is a bit troublesome, but we have NPCs stationed permanently at the other guild houses."
"Guild Cards are strictly for communication within the guild."
I see. So, an alliance is just a declaration.
Well, if we just create another guild made up only of Guild Masters and Sub Masters… but that's difficult due to the nature of alliances and backing.
"Um… can NPCs also become guild members?"
"Ah!"
"Yes, that's what's so amazing about IRO."
According to Club President Bell, NPCs can be hired as regular guild members.
No, I might have heard that before, but you actually give them Guild Cards.
"It would be a problem if something happened while you were logged out, wouldn't it? Especially since we're constantly issuing quests, we hire quite a few clerks, you know?"
"Amazing…"
However, guilds that constantly issue quests are usually only the major ones.
Club President Bell's 'Silver Manor' was an exception because of the 'Expansion of Living Space' World Quest.
"So, are you going to create a guild too, Onii-san?"
"Hmm, for now, I'm just looking for someone who can fix the piano…"
The piano in the mansion's reception room.
I want to find someone who can fix it, and if they do, I want to offer a reward. So, the conversation shifted to whether it would be better to have a guild's official presence for that.
"It would be better to have a guild. In Shou-kun's case, the Dragonkin would be his backing, and there's a possibility you might hire Dragonfolk or other protected races as NPCs, right?"
"If you are to issue requests, you must also create a reception desk. For the time being, will the northwest of the Necropolis serve as an outpost?"
"We'd also like to send a permanent staff member from our side."
Club President Bell and Seth were discussing this and that, but neither Mion nor I expected things to progress so quickly.
"Um, first, after consulting with the Dragonkin…"
"Right, right. We don't even know if they'll accept the request in the first place, and if it's just to fix the piano, it might be over without forming a guild."
I have to get them to cool down for a bit, or I'm afraid they'll assume the guild is already established and just keep talking.
Besides, if it gets fixed before Mion comes, it'll probably fall on me to play the piano…
"Really? Well, the 'Silver Manor' can fully back you up on guild management, so don't hesitate to ask us, okay?"
"Got it."
There's a limit to how much I can figure out by myself, so I'll consult them when it comes to actually establishing it.
For now, with Mion's official goddess inauguration announcement and all, things are probably going to be hectic…
"Speaking of which, Onii-san. Have you disabled the Transfer Magic Circle you found in the mansion?"
"Huh? Of course, I sealed it strictly, but…"
"Then that is good. Anshia seems to have bought several of the Game Dolls' Transfer Magic Circles."
Ugh, how troublesome…
I made a face, and Club President Bell gave a wry smile.
"Does that include the ones leading to the Cait Sith's island?"
"Even the Game Dolls apparently refused that. They're planning a live stream going to Natural Ramune-san's island, too."
Well, the Cait Sith are adorable, after all.
Many players want to go there too, but Natural Ramune-san's fan club seems to have some restrictions on that.
"Hmm? But couldn't players sneak in by logging out discreetly on Natural Ramune-san's island or setting a respawn point there?"
Well, sneaking in via respawn would come with a death penalty.
"Regarding that, it seems to be restricted by the system."
"Perhaps there are authorities granted by establishing a nation. There may have been information exchange with Harune-dono, who has experience in nation-building, about that."
So there are settings that allow for sakoku-like policies.
Even if players who cause trouble on the island are punished… there's no problem, I guess.
"So, why did Ice Princess Anshia buy the other Transfer Magic Circles? Are the others already connected somewhere?"
"No, it is likely she anticipated an increase in players starting from uninhabited islands, like Natural Ramune-dono, coming to the mainland in the future."
"Like a proactive investment?"
"It feels more like a gamble than an investment. In any case, it might be connected to a Transfer Magic Circle you possess, Onii-san. You should be careful."
I nodded at Seth's warning.
However, all the ones on the island have known destinations.
One leads to the Necropolis, one to the Dragon Capital, and one to a mining facility in the south… Maybe I should check them again?
