Chapter 656 - Chapter 584: Things We Don't Need to Rush
For today's meal, I fried up a bunch of Oranjack.
Last time it was curry fried, but this time it's a simple fry. It's delicious on its own, but even better as a fish burger, sandwiched in a baguette with fresh vegetables.
The tartar sauce, made with mayonnaise, boiled egg, and Kyuka (cucumber) pickles, hits just right.
"Is it delicious?"
"Yep!"
[Shiman] "So good♪"
[Shakeena] "So warm~♪"
[Doradora] "We're basically family now!"
[Bearmen] "So yummy~(^ω^)"
etc., etc…
"Kyuu~!" "Nyafu…"
The fried fish was a big hit with True and Shal-tachi too. However, Shal-tachi are careful eaters since they have sensitive tongues.
As for Sweee-tachi… it seems the pickles were unexpectedly delicious, and it's cute how they're munching on the Kyuka pickles.
"Alright, can we continue while we eat?"
"Yes."
"Um, I'm thinking of putting in a request for cooking utensils and seasonings, but I'm still figuring out the details."
We decided to combine the discussion about cooking utensils and seasonings, which I'd forgotten to bring up last time.
In any case, it seems best to go through a specialist like Master Chef-san.
"What kind of cooking utensils are you thinking of?"
"For starters, probably a pressure cooker? I might be able to do something similar with magic, but I'm scared of messing it up."
It might be possible with Gravity magic or Barrier magic, but the MP consumption would be insane. What's more, it wouldn't be for just a moment; I'd have to maintain it constantly, and an explosion if I lose focus would be no laughing matter…
[Napalm] "Did they have those?"
[Kusho] "Just sealing it isn't enough, right?"
[Seiki] "Oh, I definitely might want one."
[Storay] "If I understood the principle, I feel like I could make one…"
etc., etc…
Judging by the comments, it seems no one has made one yet? Then again, maybe not many people would go out of their way to craft one.
"And regarding seasonings, I'd like to get the sauce we talked about before, plus other spicy things like chili pepper, mustard, and Sansho pepper."
I'd heard there was something called Caracina before, and mustard should already exist. After that, it's chili pepper. I definitely want to make spicy curry, after all.
"As for seasonings, I'm planning to leave it to someone knowledgeable, and I'm currently consulting with Argenta-san, so I'll let you know once things are decided."
[Femura] "Seriously!?"
[Peter] "Finally, a purveyor!"
[Gafugafu] "Ooooh!"
[Santouhei] "The possibility of increased circulation for island products!?"
etc., etc…
Whether the distribution volume will actually increase is debatable. However, it's a problem if prices get too high just because it's from our island, and on the other hand, I want to avoid anything like a price crash. I'll have to consult with Mion-san, Bell-bucho, and Seth about that.
"Will it be decided by the next live stream?"
"Hmm, I'm hoping it will, but that's about it."
"Yes."
Here, it's snack time for now.
Today's dessert is an easy-to-make Marone Pie. It's super simple: just wrap candied Marone (chestnut) in pie dough and bake it.
"So yummy~♪" "~~~♪"
The White Dragon Princess is highly satisfied, and Sweee, who appeared out of nowhere, also gives a firm thumbs-up.
I should call the Fairies too and have everyone eat together.
"Alright, next point… I won't be making a Declaration of Nationhood."
"Yes."
[Urume] "Whaaaaaat!? ( ;´Д`)"
[Guidon] "I get it~"
[Newd] "Instead of a new starting point, wouldn't it be better to have more Fairies?"
[Coconut] "Don't really feel the benefits?"
etc., etc…
Just as I expected, the comments section is scrolling by at an incredible pace, full of both pros and cons.
Of course, all these opinions are based on the premise of not creating a new starting point, but the pro-nationhood faction still argues that it would be better if more Fairies, like Sweee-tachi, were to join.
Conversely, the opposition's primary point is that my opinion should be respected, followed by the argument that Fairies are already increasing even without establishing a nation.
"Are they increasing?"
"I suppose you could say Sweee, True, Pan, and Kuro increased because we met them on the island? Shal-tachi, on the other hand, came from the mainland, so their numbers haven't increased since they became island residents."
I checked the islander count recently and confirmed it hasn't increased. In my mind, "accumulating with Shinsen" refers to things like the Fairies increasing in number, or Shal's subordinates growing, but… No, the reason I'm not making a Declaration of Nationhood isn't about that.
"Um, there's still that tower at the northern tip of the island, right? I haven't been able to go there yet, so I plan to seriously consider it once I've finished exploring that area."
"You never know what might be there, do you?"
"Exactly, exactly. Plus, there's also the matter of the Remote Island Mutual Aid Association, so I figure it's fine to do it after everything has settled down a bit."
[Domos] "Right, right, no time to panic yet."
[Tonnen] "I see~"
[Deckin] "Hmm, I get the sentiment, but isn't that unrelated?"
[Reaper] "You two should just do whatever you want."
etc., etc…
It's already a decided matter, so even if I receive various opinions, I probably won't change my mind. Even Bell-bucho and Yata-sensei said that's fine.
"Shall we move on to the Q&A segment?"
"Yes, let's. Well, anything related to the Declaration of Nationhood is already decided, so please ask about other topics."
Once that's over, Mion-san will sing, and we'll finish up.
Today's performance is "Rainbow Hanging on the Horizon," and if there's an encore, maybe Mion-san could sing one more song.
