Chapter 8 - Untitled

Return to Greta, Illegal Entry and Escape

Betasia Star System's Thirteenth Planet Aerial Zone~

Sangou had hurried to the aerial zone where the thirteenth planet of the Betasia Star System, their next destination, was located, and had arrived.

That was because Jin had ended the battle in the twelfth planet's aerial zone easily with a single blow.

The battle that unfolded on the new, different battlefield they had arrived at was, well, fierce and gruesome, and the Hero Jin exerted his utmost strength in his attacks.

Or so one might think, but the reality was that no such situation occurred.

Even from the results of the battle that took place in the twelfth planet's aerial zone, there was no way the situation would develop like that when Jin and Sangou stepped in.

In actuality, just like the battle in the twelfth planet's aerial zone, Sangou used Sensory Waves to gather the space beasts, called 'Space Cleaners' in the Deltania Star System, into one place.

Then Jin added a strike with the Holy Sword to that, and the necessary battle for pest extermination was easily concluded.

After finishing the battle, Jin promptly reported that fact.

Of course, the recipient was Count Betasia.

He conducted an 'additional' communication to Rouju's biological father to report the 'completion of space beast extermination.'

To smoothly proceed with the post-operation arrangements, Jin had made a communication as an interim report before leaving the twelfth planet's aerial zone.

Therefore, the Count of Betasia himself had departed from the main planet and was en route to the site for confirmation.

For that reason as well, the physical distance between the two was shortening, and a communication with good responsiveness was established.

And once Jin's additional report was finished, the reason the Count of Betasia had to proceed with that humiliating political marriage completely disappeared.

Towards a wealthy baronial family of lower rank, with nothing but money.

There was no need for a marriage that involved offering his daughter in exchange for the assistance they might receive in the future.

For the Count of Betasia, the duo of Jin and Sangou were truly saviors.

Because they were the ones who accomplished the great feat of eliminating in a short time the unknown space beasts that the Betasia Count's territorial military had been struggling to deal with.

Moreover, the reason Jin did it was what it was.

"Because I had a request from Rouju, the daughter of the Betasia Count Household."

The meaning of these words spoken by Jin was not a so-called 'contract' that necessarily required compensation.

Of course, that said, they couldn't just let it end as 'volunteer work' either.

If that happened, it would lead to the Count of Betasia being shamed.

Well, setting that aside for the moment.

What Jin decided to do with Rouju was not limited to that, which was significant.

"I have promised Rouju that I will promptly provide assistance to restore the two planets afterward."

If such post-report information was added from Jin's mouth, the head of the Count Household would feel considerable anxiety about the compensation he should pay Jin, along with gratitude.

Following that report from Jin, the proposal presented to the Count of Betasia was as follows:

"How about canceling this arranged meeting intended as a prelude to marriage with the baron's son? If you are willing, I would not hesitate to transport the video recording data conveying that decision to Neutral Colony Greta via Sangou as soon as possible. My ship is fast, so it can deliver it within ten hours from our current position. What do you say?"

The Count of Betasia jumped at the proposal he couldn't have wished for.

Of course, he jumped at it also considering 'the point that it would not be wise to anger a party possessing military force capable of easily doing what the territorial military could not, and doing so by rejecting Jin's proposal.'

In addition, since Beta One would need to be handed over in the future, it was even more imperative for the Count's side not to worsen their relationship with Jin.

With that flow, Jin received the data for the 'order to cancel the arranged meeting' from the Count of Betasia.

Sangou set the next destination as Greta and transitioned into the jump navigation that would be the final step in the series of space beast annihilation operations.

At the point just before entering the final jump navigation, the time elapsed since Sangou departed from Greta was a little over ten hours.

Objectively, leaving aside the quite valid question of 'can that really be called a 'battle'?', the battle itself with the space beasts ended in a time that was not an exaggeration to call 'an instant.'

However, it was also true that a fair amount of time was consumed in gathering the space beasts into one place using Sangou's Sensory Waves.

Travel time was also a factor, and the time needed for the subsequent exchange with Rouju's Papa also definitely existed.

This was the result of Jin and Sangou's efforts aiming for maximum speed and efficiency, what with one thing and another.

Departing from the aerial zone of the thirteenth planet in the Betasia Star System, they spent about six hours of travel time.

Sangou was not aiming for some nostalgic home; it was merely heading for the colony where it had docked until about sixteen hours ago.

And when they finally approached the aerial zone where Greta existed, they could not communicate with the spaceship that was supposed to have been placed as a relay for communications before their departure.

Jin and Sangou had vaguely predicted this situation, but interference from the baronial family, the arranged meeting partner for Rouju and the others, was likely happening.

 But still.

They had prepared another measure just in case something like this happened.

Jin and Sangou immediately tried that method.

It was a communication to the earring-type terminal that Rouju possessed.

"This is Jin. Rouju, are you safe?"

"Jin? Is it really you, Jin? We are safe. The fact that this communication came through means... you've already come back?"

From Rouju's perspective, the communication arrived abruptly.

Rouju had been told by Jin in advance that he would return 'within a day,' but no matter how she looked at it, he was back too soon.

At the very least, judging from her common sense, there was no helping that she thought so.

The earlier statement was a question born from that premise.

To begin with, what Jin had told Rouju was supposed to be something with an extremely low probability of realization, or rather, a tale in the realm of miracles.

"Yeah!"

"And the results? Can I expect good news?"

"Ah. Of course. I'm the Hero, after all!"

"Hehe. Yes. Yes! My Hero! Please come quickly to rescue us from our captivity."

At this point, at the very least, Rouju's affection for Jin was already at maximum and peak.

It was not like, but love; no, it had entered the realm of serious love.

Jin was not aware of that fact, though.

Here as well, it was probably a trivial matter that 'the disappointing Hero lived up to his reputation.'

Jin and Sangou had parted from Rouju and the others and left Greta a little after seven in the morning local time.

And now that they had returned to Greta, the current local time was around twenty-four o'clock.

With everything considered, they had returned in about the time it takes for 'the date to change or not after departure?'

Therefore, there was no doubt that the result the strongest duo achieved could be called 'quite something.'

What was the baron's intention in jamming communications against such a Sangou and company?

Neither Sangou nor Jin could guess or understand that.

What they did know was that malice certainly existed, and that they had been able to foresee the occurrence of such a situation in advance.

After finishing his communication with Rouju, Jin thought about their safety.

His thoughts went like: 'At this hour, would there be an attack on Greta? On the Count's residence? No way. Right?'

Of course, there was a 'heavy dose of wishful thinking' or rather, 'hopes mixed in completely.'

Because he was thinking along those lines, Jin had the feeling he was setting up huge flags.

However, as a result, nothing happened at the Betasia Count's residence on Greta until morning, and no incident occurred.

 That's right.

 Nothing happened at all.

Nor did Jin come to pick up Rouju and the others.

Why did such a situation occur?

First of all, the baron's side had thoroughly and without negligence monitored the Betasia Count's residence within Greta.

Furthermore, according to the baron's side's plan, 'the arrangement was to send a messenger first thing in the morning to take Rouju and the others out under the pretext of an arranged meeting, and to pick them up from early afternoon.'

The bribery of the communication officer of the relay ship arranged by Sebas, and the bribery of the Greta spaceport controller, had also been carried out.

Given that, they had been arrogantly confident that 'there will likely be no interference until at least tomorrow ends.'

On the other hand, Jin himself had completed the procedures for requesting entry into Greta by around twenty-five o'clock local time.

However, the Greta controller's response was 'there are no vacancies at the berths, so we will inform you of the available entry date and time later.'

At that stage, Sangou was already cruising in an aerial zone at the very limit of the distance allowed without permission from Greta.

With Sangou's performance, having approached Greta that closely.

It could visually recognize and capture the opening of the colony's port.

That meant that, although not all of the berths could be confirmed, it could at least grasp the situation in part.

With the capabilities of a normal vessel in the Gialpha Galaxy Empire, it might be a distance where optical confirmation via monitors is impossible.

 But Sangou was different.

Created by a super-civilization with extremely advanced science and technology, Sangou was a high-performance vessel that made one wonder how many 'supers' to add when comparing it to the ships of this world.

For such a Sangou, the internal situation of Greta's port was normally visible.

The performance of a bio-spaceship, a cut above mechanical spaceships, was no bluff.

From the visual information, the place where Sangou had been docked until this morning was clearly empty.

Because that could be confirmed from the outside, Sangou contacted Greta again.

"That spot is indeed empty right now. However, it is a reserved space and is scheduled to be used by an incoming vessel."

The response from Greta to the inquiry was something like this.

"The vessel that reserved it will depart by its scheduled arrival time. So please let us use the berth that is empty now."

 Sangou tried making the request.

Still, permission to use it was not granted.

To begin with, since Greta's side's purpose was to not allow Sangou to dock, this was a natural course of events.

"Hey, Sangou. What do you think is the best way to get Rouju and the others on this ship?"

"Yes. 'Adjusting the size of one of Sangou's sub-units, preparing it as a so-called 'shipboard craft,' going through the docking procedures with that sub-unit, and berthing is one legally permissible method' is conceivable. However, given the current situation, permission would probably not be granted even with that method. I judge that the current situation itself is that 'preventing Sangou from docking is Greta's side's objective.' Therefore, there are two other options. If we 'don't choose the means,' there are the method of forcibly berthing and using the port, and the method of relying on the Captain's ridiculous abilities. Along with the first method, Sangou can offer a total of three options."

"Hey, about that last one. Isn't the third one kinda weird? Don't call me 'ridiculous'!"

"In the world Sangou originally came from, and probably in this world as well, things like 'magic' do not exist. Also, that is not the only basis for 'ridiculous.' Normally, humans cannot operate in outer space with just their physical bodies. Let alone annihilating a space beast with a danger rating of 'AA' class with a single sword strike. That is absolutely impossible. There is plenty more evidence. Supplying all the navigation energy Sangou needs from that small body that doesn't even reach two meters; the Captain can do that too. See? Aren't you plenty 'ridiculous'? Sangou speculates that the Captain, in a one-man army state, would 'seem likely' to just charge into Greta without any questions and snatch away Rouju-sama, Rinju-sama, and Ranju-sama with ease."

Jin's expression, upon hearing Sangou's opinion, started off indignant, but by the end it had changed into a serious one.

The Hero from the fantasy world somehow found himself convinced: 'Yeah. If you ask me 'can I do it or not?' I probably can.'

The evidence Sangou provided for 'ridiculous' was that convincing.

"When you put it that way. If I can see inside the colony through the transparent parts for light sources by repeating short-distance teleportation, I can even teleport inside. Just forcibly entering the port and infiltrating alone doesn't seem impossible either. Hmm. Yeah, I could probably do it if I tried. But still. Even if it's 'human-sized,' it would definitely get picked up by radars and sensors, right? Suddenly becoming a criminal for trespassing into a colony. That's something I'd really 'like to avoid.' Oh!"

"What is it? What's with the 'oh!'?"

"If it's just a matter of 'not being caught by radars and sensors,' I can do it if I use Shadow Magic."

"Just how ridiculous of an existence are you? What on earth is this 'Shadow Magic' or whatever? I don't get it at all. But fine. If you can, just do it with that."

Sangou's way of speaking was harsh, but it could also be said that 'Sangou is ignoring its own existence.'

To begin with, Sangou's very existence was plenty ridiculous by the standards of the Gialpha Galaxy.

At the very least, spaceships of the Gialpha Galaxy Empire cannot use 'Sensory Waves,' nor do they possess absurd cannons like 'Hyperspace Cannons.'

If one asked the inhabitants of the Gialpha Galaxy Empire for their opinion on Sangou, there would surely be a chorus of 'Your performance is cheating!'

In short, if you ask 'Is he in a position to talk about Jin like that?'

The natural response would be 'Look who's talking!'

"Alright! When a ship that looks like it's entering Greta comes, I'll slip into its shadow. I'll use Search Magic to keep an eye on the movements of likely ships too, but let me know when Sangou spots one."

With that, they waited for several hours for an incoming ship from somewhere.

Morning came, and finally a ship that Jin could stalk appeared.

Using that, Jin promptly launched into the infiltration mission into Greta.

With that flow, Jin succeeded in infiltrating inside Greta with ease.

The Hero from another world finally made his criminal debut by trespassing into a space colony full of scientific technology.

Especially in Jin's case, he was originally a 'subject to quarantine' before landing, so from the perspective of the colony he trespassed into, Jin would be a super-serious felon.

However, that is only a story 'if he gets caught and it's discovered.'

In Jin's words, 'if you don't get caught, it's not a crime at all!'

It's a minor thing that it's the same level of thinking as the red character from some anime who said 'if it doesn't hit~.'

Also, this is a hypothetical situation.

If, because Jin trespassed without undergoing quarantine this time, a situation occurs where a disease spreads within Greta.

"I'll cure it all with magic!"

Jin has that much resolve and ability, so he can say it as above.

Therefore, to speak in defense of 'no quarantine' and 'trespassing.'

"I'd like you to overlook it."

That is Jin's simple and clear true feelings.

Of course, those true feelings also firmly include the sentiment of blaming the Greta side: 'You're the ones who didn't give docking permission in the first place.'

Having already infiltrated Greta, Jin continuously makes contact with Rouju via communication.

In parallel with that, by using Map Magic and Search Magic, Jin pinpoints the location of Rouju and the others.

Thus, using Shadow Magic, Jin finally arrives at the Betasia Count's residence and trespasses inside as well.

Now, 'why did Jin trespass?' at this point?

The answer is 'because he detected multiple presences that seemed to be monitoring the Count's residence.'

From Jin's perspective, he had already informed Rouju of his approach via communication, and it would be problematic if a visible anomaly occurred at the Count's residence from the outside because of the timing of his visit.

"(If I just showed up looking like a straightforward house visit and someone other than the Count's associates saw me, it would definitely be bad, no matter how I think about it.)"

Jin had made such a judgment.

That aside, it was rather endearing that when Jin suddenly appeared inside the Count's residence, the servants inside were startled.

The fact that Jin was coming had been conveyed to the servants via Rouju.

But even so, if a person suddenly appears right before your eyes with no forewarning, of course you'd be surprised.

Thus, Jin was reunited with Rouju in a 'moving (?)' scene.

However, at that timing, a scene like 'from a passionate hug to a kiss' did not occur.

One of the reasons for that was probably that only a single day had passed since they parted.

Also, for Rouju, even though 'only related parties were around,' she was also concerned about the eyes of others present.

In other words, Rouju simply exercised maximum self-restraint and refrained from hugging and kissing Jin.

That aside, the total number of personnel working within the Betasia Count's residence on Greta was only ten.

Adding the three Rouju sisters to that made the total number of personnel staying in the residence thirteen.

From Jin's perspective, that seemed a bit few for the scale of the mansion.

Knowing the nobles of the Louvre Empire in the fantasy world, he couldn't help but notice such minor details.

However, the civilization level was different from the world Jin knew, so perhaps this was typical for a villa-like residence of a noble in the Gialpha Galaxy Empire.

With the three sisters, Sebas, and Alra, Jin discussed future responses.

Of course, the three maids who had experience boarding Sangou were standing by, but they were not participating in the discussion itself.

All six people including Jin had exactly the same understanding of the current situation, and they agreed on the opinion that 'leaving Greta through official means is dangerous.'

Normally, from here, they would likely be racking their brains, saying 'Now what do we do?'

However, when the Hero Jin was present, the story changed.

With Jin's ridiculousness, there were plenty of ways to handle it.

What needed to be decided was the confirmation of personnel to accompany them and the luggage to take.

 That was all.

For Jin, it was fine to empty the Count's residence and take everyone along, and it was even possible to throw the entire building into Storage Space and leave without a trace.

However, this residence was an asset of the Count Household, and they were paying taxes to Greta, so he wondered 'is it really okay to just turn it into an empty lot and have everyone, along with the building, vanish as if they were fleeing in the night?'

Therefore, Jin did not reveal his hand and did not say something like 'I can take everything, including the building.'

There was also the fact that he had Beta One in Storage Space, so he wanted to refrain from careless remarks.

"Alright, final confirmation. Sebas, four servants, and one chef will remain to maintain the residence. The three sisters, Alra, and the three maids will board Sangou and head for the main planet of the Count's territory. Leave the method of transportation to Sangou and the transport of the supplies you want to take to me. Is that okay?"

Rouju, representing the three sisters and the accompanying maids, and Sebas, representing the remaining group, gave their consent.

However, it did not lead to 'the maids hurriedly packing their bags' from there.

Why? Because the luggage they had unloaded when disembarking from Sangou was still in an unpacked state.

Alra gathered opinions, and it was almost decided that they would 'just take everything as is.'

But then Jin called a halt.

That was because weapons were still included in that luggage.

"Are we taking the weapons as they are too?"

 Jin asked that frankly.

From Jin's perspective, he wondered 'why would you want to bring weapons onto Sangou?'

Sangou's performance and safety as a spaceship were extremely high, and wearing spacesuits was not necessary for life onboard.

In other words, 'what is this about?'

The intrusion of external enemies is almost unthinkable, and in the hypothetical case that an external enemy does manage to get onboard, Sangou's functions, being a living organism, would have to be stopped as a premise.

At that point, the survival of humans living onboard in their physical bodies would be hopeless.

To organize the possible situations again.

Since enemy intrusion from outside is impossible, weapons are unnecessary.

If they were to be invaded, it could only be in a situation where Sangou has stopped all functions, causing the air inside the ship to leak out, making human survival impossible.

Therefore, it becomes a problem before weapons can even be used.

In short, regardless of which scenario one considers, weapons are useless.

That leaves the reason being 'to protect themselves from Jin.'

Then his thoughts naturally turned to things like 'I'm not trusted as a man' or 'I don't think it's likely, but do Alra and the others intend to go on a rampage inside the ship?'

Bringing in weapons wouldn't be justified without a valid reason.

Well, that aside, as a practical matter, given the Hero Jin's combat power, even if seven women united and armed themselves, they would be no match for him.

However, for Jin, this was a matter of trust, so he needed to confirm their intentions.

It was here that Jin was forced to reconfirm part of the difference between the common sense of this world and his own common sense.

He learned the reality that bringing minimal self-defense weapons was 'the absolute basics' from the perspective of the inhabitants of this world.

 What did that mean?

First of all, spacesuits are prepared in various places inside spaceships for life onboard, and wearing them is mandatory in emergencies.

In fact, constant wear is even recommended.

On top of that, 'the weapons normally loaded onto vessels' are always prepared in appropriate quantities assuming combat inside the ship or vessel.

But that is only for the crew, with at most a few spares.

This is especially true for civilian transport ships, where situations like 'being attacked by bandits and combat occurring inside the ship' are possible as well.

Taking that into account, when boarding a ship as a non-crew member, it becomes 'if you don't bring your own self-defense weapons, the ship's weapons alone won't be enough, right?'

Of course, weapons judged to have excessive power are not recognized as self-defense weapons.

After receiving a careful explanation of the circumstances from Head Maid Alra, Jin was able to recognize Sangou's excellence anew.

"(So back then, when Sangou said something about 'differences in the understanding of weapon import' or whatever, it was picking up on the difference in our senses!)"

There was indeed an episode that brought such a thing to mind.

In any case, Jin was 'a bit surprised!' after receiving that explanation.

Common sense changes when the place changes.

"(The common sense here is completely different from the fantasy world I know, and even from Japan before I was summoned there.)"

Having received the explanation, Jin was convinced and agreed.

However, even if weapons were brought in, they would likely be temporarily confiscated on Sangou as before, and they would probably be stored under Sangou's management.

While they were doing this, the time was approaching when, if the baron's side was going to make some sort of move, a messenger or something would have come.

Jin first put all the departing people into the shadow of a servant who could go out without being particularly suspicious even in this situation.

Next, while camouflaging the luggage so that it appeared to others as if it had been put into the shadow, he quickly threw it into Storage Space.

The reason he deliberately put the luggage into Storage Space instead of the shadow was that the simple inspection is automatic, utilizing the fact that living things cannot enter Storage Space.

As the Captain, he did not want to bring in insects like cockroaches or small animals like mice into Sangou's interior.

 Especially 'cockroaches' are a no-go.

It's not relevant here, but Jin believes 'Cockroaches. They are the enemies of humanity.'

All preparations complete, he had the servant approach the port as close as possible.

Getting as far as they could like that, from there it was a matter of moving from shadow to shadow.

And so, Jin succeeded in slipping into the shadow of a departing ship.

However, just that alone would not allow them to reach Sangou.

Having succeeded in escaping from Greta, Jin, by making full use of short-distance teleportation magic and barrier magic in outer space, safely got everyone he had brought onboard Sangou.

Around the time Jin and the others slipped into the ship's shadow and departed.

Sebas, who had remained at the Count's residence, was dealing with a messenger from the baron.

"An escort to pick you up to attend the arranged meeting at the baron's residence will arrive here at one in the afternoon."

The content the messenger conveyed was not a consultation or inquiry, but merely a notification.

However, Rouju and the others had already departed and would not return to the Count's residence.

In other words, what the messenger conveyed was only something impossible for Sebas and the others to fulfill.

No, to be precise, 'it is possible for the so-called escort the other party arranged to come to the Count's residence, but we cannot comply with what they ask of us from that point on.'

"We have received prior notice from the head of the Betasia Count Household regarding this matter. Based on that, we have been informed that this arranged meeting itself is canceled. Since the communication conditions are currently poor, a direct communication from our household's head to the baron will likely follow later? Given these circumstances, there is no need for an escort. Please leave promptly."

Sebas clearly conveyed what needed to be said to the messenger.

Of course, he did not make the blunder of revealing that Rouju and the others were absent.

With that flow, they sent the messenger on his way.

This was a so-called last-minute cancellation, but it was an act that was not considered a problem in terms of rank.

Therefore, the baron's side had no choice but to accept it submissively.

Of course, it was undoubtedly an act that incurred immense resentment, but since hostile actions had essentially already been secretly taken against them, it was a matter that was shelved as too late to worry about now.

This was the situation that had occurred at Sebas's end.

After boarding Sangou, the first thing the seven women and Jin did was the customary quarantine procedure.

Everyone entered individual small rooms and received sterilization washing.

Also, separately, Jin pretended to take the luggage he had received from the women out of the shadow, but actually he gently retrieved it from Storage Space.

Sangou was supposed to check that for 'whether any dangerous items are included.'

"Captain. Welcome back. It seems the rescue was a success. That's great."

"Ah. But with this, it's confirmed that I've aided seven people in illegally leaving the country. It's fine since it won't be discovered, but my list of crimes just keeps growing. Oh, Sangou. The luggage brought in is the same as last time, so there are weapons inside too."

Jin's expression became serious as he pondered over the crimes he had committed.

Well, since he had confidence it wouldn't be discovered, it was only a matter of his own feelings about it.

The fact that he himself understood that well might, in this case, help things progress in a good direction.

"Understood. I will scan it just in case, and if there are no problems, I will handle it the same as last time."

"Yeah. I've already gotten Head Maid Alra's agreement on the handling of the weapons, so I'm counting on you."

That was the end of the discussion about the weapons the maids had brought.

Actually, Sangou had already started the scanning process, but there was simply no need to specifically inform the Captain, Jin, of that.

"By the way, Captain. The three sisters are having a conversation with somewhat heightened emotions, though it hasn't escalated to a 'quarrel.' The cause of it nearing an argument is the point of 'will Rouju-sama alone meet the Captain?' or 'will all three sisters meet the Captain together?'"

"Is that so? But even if I know about it, I don't think I should intervene from my side, you know? That matter."

"That's true. Whatever result it leads to, it's the Captain's own responsibility for constantly setting up flags. I'll inform you again when a formal request for a meeting is made."

Thus, the Hero Jin successfully completed his mission to escape from the neutral colony Greta.

The arranged meeting for the time being was prevented, and subsequent negotiations were supposed to be held between the Count and the baron.

How would they properly resolve the problem of covering up the towing of Beta One?

What would become of the meeting with the three beautiful elf sisters who were arguing?

 No one knew the future.

Thinking seriously about troublesome matters felt like it would drive him crazy, and the summoned Hero who had accomplished the subjugation of the Demon King in another world had quickly decided to stop thinking, with a somewhat resigned attitude of 'it'll work out one way or another.'

Jin then gave Sangou instructions for navigation towards the main planet of the Betasia Star System and instructions to withdraw the docking application to Greta, and reconfirmed the arrangements for energy supply during the voyage.
