SHOUSHAMAN – K-1

“Where……is this?”

n

My name is Keigo Okuda 奥田圭吾(おくだけいご). I am thirty-five years old.

n

I was working for a conglomerate trading company, importing coal from overseas, traveling around Singapore and Australia from my base in Tokyo, when I won one billion yen (8.8M USD) in the year-end jumbo lottery. It sounds like a lie, but it’s true.

n

Now that I don’t have to worry about money anymore, I slammed my resignation on my fucking boss who was always yelling about quotas from above. On the way home. I threw my cell phone over the bridge. It was the moment I put an end to my superficial, overly fake, and nauseating relationship.

n

I wish I could say I felt great, but I felt a mixture of melancholy. I found myself looking at the distorted view in front of me. I don’t remember when was the last time I cried spontaneously.

n

It was only after I quit the company that I realized that I wasn’t just working for the money, although I had been complaining about the company’s slave abuse.

n

 ……

n

After quitting the company, I bought a farmhouse in the countryside of Hokkaido, and spent my time farming as a hobby and ordering delicious food from the internet.

n

By the way, I only have one friend I can talk to on SNS. I would like to ask myself how much I hate people. I just sent a postcard to my parents in an analog way, saying, “I’ve decided to be a farmer. Please don’t worry about me.”

n

Then one day, I went to take care of the chickens.

n

On that day, I went into the chicken coop and farm tool shed before breakfast to take care of the chickens, and when I came out of the coop with the chickens, the scenery changed completely.

n

First of all, there was no main house that should be there. There was a forest nearby, and then a meadow. I could see something like a town in the background.

n

And then, in the distance, a person seemed to be attacking something, swinging something at something.

n

At any rate, I calmed my confused head and returned the chicken to the coop.

n

There was a person in the distance, so I decided to go talk to him for the time being.

n

Seemed like he was fighting with something, and it was such an abnormal situation. I guess it’s better to be cautious.

n

Since it is a farm tool shed, so there was a hoe, a grass sickle, and a sword-tip shovel. (剣先スコップ – If you google this, regular pointed shovel come out).

n

For now, I took out the sword-tip shovel and the sickle and locked the shed. Then I quietly approached the person who seemed to be fighting something.

n

He was fighting a small, non-human being about a meter tall, with a dagger. The non-human thing made a jarring voice that sounded like “GIGIGIGI……” and had red eyes, green skin, a pointed nose and ears. (t/n : definitely a goblin)

n

It also wore poorly-made leather clothes and threatened the swordsman with a club in hand.

n

Apparently, I’ve come to another world.

n

Because I love fantasy novels and RPG games, I know this creature well. It was probably a monster called a 『GOBLIN』.

n

I was able to remain relatively calm because of this knowledge. I’m in an unfamiliar place. There is a monster in front of me. As a result, I arrived at the conclusion, “I was brought to another world.”

n

In front of me, there is a strong warrior who looks like an adventurer and a goblin. In my hands are a sword-tipped shovel and a grass cutting sickle.

n

I’m sorry I couldn’t meet your expectations. For the time being, I ran away. That is, in a mad dash. With snot and tears running down my face, I ran away.

n

No, no, no. It’s impossible. Such a terrifying monster. That’s just plain scary. I’m just a good ordinary citizen.

n

 ――Can you fight a monster with a sword-tip shovel?

n

I ran back to the coop and locked it from inside.
