SHOUSHAMAN – K-2

I holed up in the hut for a few hours. My face was soggy with tears and snot, but it was almost lunchtime and my stomach started growling.

n

I knew in my head that I can’t stay like this forever, but I’m too scared to take action.

n

The urge for hunger has finally given me the energy to act.

n

For now, let’s analyze the situation. I’ve come to a different world. And a dangerous one at that.

n

The level of difficulty is much higher than trying to survive penniless in Japan.

n

The goblin from earlier might break through the door of this hut at any moment.

n

You can’t fight on an empty stomach.

n

I put the fresh raw eggs I had collected earlier into my mouth together with the soy sauce I had stocked in the hut, and ate them. It was delicious. At any rate, I was glad to be a farmer.

n

Eggs are produced every day, and if I can just protect this hut, I miscght not starve to death for the time being.

n

Moreover, even though I am in another world, there is a town within sight. It would only take about three hours to do a round trip on foot.

n

So, it might be possible to do some kind of trading.

n

Then, I suddenly recalled that in isekai novels, it was customary to have appraisal skills, magic, or some other unique ability.

n

There is no guarantee that these fictional rules will apply to the real world, though.

n

As an experiment, I looked at a chicken and thought, “Appraisal!”

n

It was displayed as [Chicken: General chicken]. There are strings of unfamiliar character below it.

n

Oh! I thought to myself. At this point, my tension rises.

n

Then, what about myself? I thought to myself, “Appraisal!”

n

It was displayed as [Keigo Okuda]. The same incomprehensible character string that I do not understand is written together.

n

I was a little disappointed. I was hoping it would show my status or something.

n

After roughly checking what’s in the hut, I made up my mind to survive.

n

Maybe I was getting carried away with my appraisal skills. But I’m feeling a little more hopeful. If I have the appraisal skill, then I might be able to use magic.

n

Without a little hope or something like that, I don’t think I can survive.

n

There was a wooden container inside the hut, and I wondered if I could store rainwater in it. Rainwater would be drinkable, and drinking water is the most important thing for survival.

n

So, while holding the sickle, I gently opened the door of the hut.

n

It was now 13:00 Japan Standard Time. I checked my wristwatch, so there is no doubt. The watch is a product that is said to be unbreakable even if the statue1 is stepped on, and it is solar-powered. I think it will be a very valuable item for survival. I would measure the time of sunset and sunrise2.
(t/n: dunno what MTL said, can’t make any sense from “watch”+”image/picture/statue”).
(t/n2: original text ‘time of darkness’, ‘time of dawn’).

n

It was bright outside. The sun is at its peak.

n

I quickly put the wooden container outside and look around the hut. For now, there are no living things within sight, but there are various plants growing. Not that I had a background in agriculture, but I guessed they were plants that didn’t exist in Japan. I collected a few plants and returned to the hut.
