Soldier’s Job 2

n

It’s a 30 minutes walk deep into the woods.

n

I heard noises and cries from the back.

n

“Stop! Sergeant Wayne’s squad to the right, Captain Tony’s squad to the left, Corporal Mirko’s squad to the center with me. All right?”

n

Everyone nodded.

n

n

“Wayne’s and Tony’s squads will begin assault five minutes after they start moving.”

n

I said so, and pulled out a tool about the size of the palm of my hand. It’s a magical clock.

n

“Then, operation start!”

n

Wayne’s and Tony’s squad start moving.

n

This world, there are 12 months of 360 days a year, 30 days a month, 24 hours a day, 1 hour is 60 minutes.

n

It’s a solar calendar, by the way, and there are two moons.

n

There are no leap years.

n

Magical clocks are expensive, but they are necessary for military service, so they are issued to squad leaders and above.

n

“Let’s go.”

n

Patrick approached Corporal Mirko, who had brown, short hair and blue eyes. He’s probably about ten years older than Patrick. He is a slender, austere man. The other two men move forward slowly and quietly.

n

In a slightly open area, five goblins are snapping at the fawn’s belly and devouring its internal organs.

n

“Bow ready…”

n

Everyone quietly holds their bows.

n

Standard goblin-hunting procedure.

n

“Release!”

n

The arrows fly with a hyphenated humming sound.

n

At about the same time, arrows were released from both sides.

n

Gugya.

n

Gege-

n

Pigya.

n

An arrow pierces the three that were on the outside.

n

The goblins roll around, grunting and moaning as the wound is not fatal.

n

The remaining two look up from the fawn’s corpse and scurry around.

n

“Second shot, from those who are ready, fire in succession!”

n

I command loudly so that the rest of the squad can hear me.

n

With a whirr, arrows fly and hits the two goblins.

n

“Everyone, go for the kill vigilantly!”

n

“Yes, sir!”

n

“Yes!”

n

The troops move out of the trees.

n

Each of them switches their weapons from bows to spears and stabs the neck and heart of the flailing goblins.

n

The five goblins are completely silent.

n

“Cut off their heads! If you let it go, it will turn into a zombie! Keep only the nose for subjugation proof!”

n

Wayne commands his troops.

n

Wayne and the others are still unaware that a creature has been watching the scene from further back.
