Waking Up
“Where am I?”
I couldn’t help but think out loud.
“It’s wounded soldier treatment camp. Good to see you’re awake, how’s your injury?”
Someone answered. My colleague Wayne.
Wayne Kimball.
He’s 15 years old, like me, and he’s about 185cm tall. His long golden hair swayed in the wind.
“Yo, Wayne! My side hurts like hell.”
I responded by saying that.
“Thought so. You’re lucky you didn’t die from one blow of the Orc King, even though it was just the handle!”
He looks at me with his blue eyes and smiles.
“What about the Orc King?”
“We all managed to take him down after my spear got stuck in his eye after that. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to carry you this far.”
“That’s great! Wayne gets the achievement for that one!”
“No, no, no, Patt, if not for you my spear won’t reach it. Didn’t the captain complimented you too?”
“No, I got blown up and passed out, you know? It’s so cool… I wish I was a muscle macho like you…”
“I don’t know what muscle macho is, but you’re not complimenting me, are you? Oh well, it’s awesome that you managed to sneak behind it.”
(Don’t worry about the details, handsome guy!)
“I have a weak presence!”
“That’s right. It’s always hard to know where the fuck you are, Patt!”
“Right?”
We both laugh, but
“Ouch.”
My side shake when I laugh.
“Sleep tight! I’m gonna go tell the captain that you woke up.”
With that, Wayne leaves.
I look to the side and see quite a few wounded soldiers. Further back, there are also soldiers covered with white blanket.
How many people were killed or injured?
A group of orcs was discovered by adventurers, and sortie order was issued to the 3rd Battalion of the Kingdom’s 1st Army, and the swarm of orcs was swiftly subdued, so it’s a relief that the people were not harmed.
With that in mind, I close my eyes again.
