2 - CASE 1 The Case of Geoglyph

The next three chapters are stories about the environments each was born into and how they grew. Despite saying there would be little narrative text, it is a scam specification where I write a lot.

The soul of the first-person "I" reincarnated as Geoglyph Triad.

Born as the third son of the Margrave of the Leonesta Empire, Radcliffe Triad, he was a genius of magic at a young age... or so others evaluated him. Of course, in reality, it was different.

He put into practice the words he heard from the Mid-tier Limited God Refill, that "the magic power of that world becomes stronger the more you train it from childhood." Having grasped the flow of magic by intuition shortly after birth, he figured he would be bored during infancy anyway and immersed himself in training. He guessed that it would likely become stronger if he repeated destruction and regeneration like muscles, and he simply did so with honest diligence.

As a result, by the time he reached the age of five, he had acquired an absurdly "stupid" amount of magic power comparable to a court mage.

However, he thought about it here.

"..................Huh? If things keep going like this, am I on the path to a family feud?"

"I"... no, Geoglyph is the third son of the Margrave. He has succession rights, but they are a bit distant. Or rather, he does not want to manage a territory. Having been a middle-aged man in his previous life who moderately enjoyed strategy and simulation games, he felt like doing it for a brief moment, but then reconsidered.

Those were games, and the citizens did not complain. Moreover, they were set with a certain level of education, and meta-textually, because it was a system, the town functioned just by giving orders.

Turning to this different world, how was it?

The basic structure is medieval. Therefore, there are various complaints, but that is fine. However, if he wanted to conduct the territorial management he desired... creating a civilized and cultured territory, he would first have to educate the people. Reading and writing are a given, but also morals and everything a modern person needs. That is honestly too much trouble.

"Reality does not work like SimCity... For now, this country is not at war, but the world as a whole is in a turbulent age like the Nobunaga's Ambition series."

In such a situation, a child with super magic power is born. He would surely become a tremendous military asset in the future. But he is the third son. His succession rights are distant, yet the family would rather keep him close than send him to another house. If so, the strongest fence is, naturally, the head of the family.

However, there is already the eldest son, the legitimate heir. He is ten years old, and being a "thoroughbred" distilled from noble blood, he is capable in many areas. When placing the two side by side, it is hard to say who is superior.

In fact, his father, Radcliffe, harbors hesitation. If considering noble succession by custom, it is natural to let the eldest son inherit. However, in terms of future ability, the third son is undoubtedly superior. Ability as a lord is not determined by magic power or combat strength, but this is the frontier. The edge of the empire... in the end, it is the place closest to war. Even if a great war does not actually break out, skirmishes happen frequently.

In such a situation, if a great mage becomes the lord, they could keep the surrounding countries in check. Public order should improve significantly.

If the eldest son were incompetent, he would have taken that path without hesitation, but Midcliff, the eldest son, is also capable, having been educated as a successor. He is not a genius, but he is undoubtedly top-class for his age. His personality is calm for his age, and he has acquired a kindness that considers others, which is uncharacteristic of a noble.

"Knowing Mid-niisama, he probably would not oppose it..."

He is a clever eldest brother. If he judged that it would be better for the family, he would probably discard even his own faction. If Geoglyph wanted to become the ruler at any cost, he would have happily jumped on that.

But.

"But sorry, since I have finally reincarnated into another world, I want to live freely. ...And I have a promise to keep."

Thus, Geoglyph makes a choice of action to live freely.

That said, it was not a difficult matter. With the unrestrained nature expected of a youngest brother, he built a good relationship with the eldest son and, incidentally, the second son. They had not been in conflict to begin with, but he had to build a relationship as three brothers that left no room for gaps. It would be troublesome if the vassal factions found a way to intervene.

On top of that, Geoglyph started saying that he wanted to become an adventurer in the future to combine it with training. He had a different actual purpose, but he took action to clearly step down from the successor race. Furthermore.

"This frontier is a place with various sparks of conflict, so a crisis will surely come for you as well when you become the lord, Brother. At that time, I want to be a great mage who can rush in gallantly and help you."

Because he performed such a devoted younger brother move, it was quite something. Papa was impressed, Mama wailed in tears, the eldest brother was moved to tears, and the second brother felt admiration. From then on, the Triad family became incredibly indulgent toward Geoglyph.

If he said he wanted a grimoire, Papa and Mama used all their connections to collect them from various places, and if he said he wanted materials to make magic tools, the eldest and second brothers led the knights to hunt magic beasts.

Of course, Geoglyph felt bad just receiving favors, so he did various things.

When consulted by his father about territorial management, he utilized knowledge from his previous life, saying "Come to think of it, I read it in a book," and he never failed to give sweets as gifts to his mother and the maids, told his brother "Battle is about numbers, Big Brother!" and gave him measures to increase the population of the territory in the future, and since he was originally an old man, he subtly showed the way to the second brother who often got lost.

To put it in a conclusion, he overdid it a bit.

Ten years later, just before his fifteenth birthday, the whole family is in tears saying goodbye as Geoglyph prepares to set out for the Imperial Capital. Mama and the two brothers wail and try to stop him, and even the usually strict Papa has teary eyes.

With them behind him, Geoglyph sets off while humming.

"Farewell, my hometown, I am setting out, frontier third son... Hmm, Yato is three characters, so it sounds clunky with Geoglyph. The nickname is also two characters, Geo."

As can be seen from this parody of a certain anime song and the advice he gave his eldest brother, this man is an SF otaku.

The rest will be tomorrow.
